We change. Big deal. No... I don't care seeing how I get fatter or that my hair grows thinner every day (ok, I do but at least not so much). I'm rather speaking of inner changes and I don't mean improvements in the humanistic sense. The point is that while I think that I have become a better person in some respects I've also become quite a different man from who I was.
Now that is truly scary. It takes something big to discover how much you've changed over a longer time period. In my case I looked at some my old drawings and couldn't help to be surprised. Then I realized I haven't drawn intensively in maybe half a year (an activity I used to do all the time) and my technique has become terribly... terrible. What I've also noticed (and this bothers me most by far) is that I'm not quite as imaginative as I used to be. I'm duller by the minute and that's an unbearable thought. I don't read as much as I used to either. Well who knows how much I changed really. And while I know that this couldn't be avoided I can't help thinking that it's wrong. I'm becoming someone who I don't want to be... assumed I even know what I DO want...
Long story made short, I'm not giving up without a fight. Even if it's just sentimental bullshit I'm here to recover parts of the me from back when I was the "old me". I'm gonna draw more frequently, read some more and try to be more spontaneous. Hope I can't keep this promise to myself...
Well sorry for all that nostalgic bullshit if you actually made it to this point. I guess it just had to go out. How pathetic is that...
On other news... I won't be able to complete my 50 books/year challenge. Actually I doubt I'll be even able to read 25 by the end of the year.
